Siding Most Common Asked Questions

  • Can I use interior paint to paint my siding?

    Definitely not a good idea.

For your outside siding, we suggest using Super Paint satin finish 25-year by Sherwin-Williams.

It’s especially formulated for sun, rain, and drastic weather changes.

It’s an exterior durable paint. It’s a mildew and mold-resistant paint.

An interior paint is formulated differently.

It can crack, fade, discolor a lot quicker.

  • Can I use silicone to seal my siding in a paintable area?

    Not recommended.

Many homeowners use non-paintable silicone, and when they try to paint over it, they realize it won’t hold paint. It then has to be removed, which takes a lot of work.

  • Why does my siding crack around nail heads?

Cracks around nail heads happen when the siding is nailed too close to the edge.

The issue can be fixed by replacing or caulking the siding, but in some cases, caulking may be the only option. Sometimes, full replacement is needed just to address a cosmetic problem.

  • Why does my siding fade more on one wall than on others?

Fading happens from direct and prolonged sun exposure. In this case, you can choose to repaint only the wall that’s most affected.
