Our Exterior Painting Process
Mendez Painting makes transforming your home easy with our step-by-step process:
1. Pressure Washing
We start by giving your home’s exterior a thorough clean. Pressure washing removes dirt, mildew, and loose paint, so the new paint sticks.
2. Surface Preparation
Prep work makes all the difference. We’ll:
- Scrape off peeling paint
- Sand rough surfaces
- Caulk gaps to keep out moisture
- Protect areas like windows, doors, and landscaping to keep everything clean and paint-free
3. Wood Repair & Replacement
If there’s damaged wood, we’ll take care of it. We check for woodwork issues during our initial estimate, but sometimes we find more once we start. If that happens, we’ll let you know right away and give you an updated estimate before we move forward.
Note: Some wood damage can hide under paint or dirt, so we may not catch it until we’re up close.
4. Painting
This is where the magic happens! Once the prep is done, we apply high-quality paint to your home’s exterior. Whether we’re painting the body, trim, shutters, or accents, we’ll bring your vision to life with beautiful, even coverage.
Not sure about colors? Our team can help you pick shades that suit your style and look great in Metro Atlanta neighborhoods.

Exterior FAQs
Do you replace it with PVC or wood and what are the benefits?
We try to use PVC as much as possible. Certain pieces are not available in PVC. The benefit of using PVC is its durability, it won't rot like your typical wood.
Do you paint vinyl windows?
Mendez Painting recommends not to, as it may peel but we understand some homeowners like to have them painted and we can do that but in this case, Mendez Painting does not offer a warranty.
What colors are popular for the exterior of a house?
Whites are still going hard in the trend and currently, some of the taupe colors are returning in the body of the houses.
What product do you use?
Mendez Painting typically uses Super Paint Satin finish for the siding, and gloss for the trim. Super Paint is a 25-year paint by Sherwin Williams, we get it for around $30 a gallon, this is the best cost-effective paint for the exterior, 100%, quality, and cost are perfect. Once you get into the duration and emeralds, you are just over paying for that. Do not be surprised that these products are pushed by the manufacturer.
How many coats will be applied?
The majority of the time if it is the same color, 1 coat will do. If it is a color change then 2 coats. Spraying application even if it is changing colors, you can get away with 1 coat. Unless the color change is drastic. In some uncommon situations, it could be up to 3 coats, depending on the colors you use.
How do you paint the exterior? Stucco? Siding? Brick?
Siding will only get sprayed, stucco will be sprayed and backrolled. Brick if it hasn't been painted will need to be primed and then sprayed.
Do you provide the leftover paint for touchups?
Yes.
Does the trim and gutter have to be the same color?
Typically they are painted the same color, although some clients like having the gutter as an accent color, the accent will create an additional cost.
